How to convince your parents about your career?

Parents, siblings are the people that keep worrying about our future. They started doing this since their child is in school. Which stream to choose after 10th standard? And after that medical or engineering and all the future important decisions they started making since long.

Today, students have developed their intelligence to some extent that they can decide what they like, what is their passion. But, sometimes parents do not get convinced by the choice of their children. They want their children to “play it safe”. Get a degree, then a job and get settled. However, the children have different plans. It becomes difficult for any family especially for a child to do what it loves or to convince his parents to let him aspire his passion. So, the question is how to “How to convince your parents about your career”.

Stay calm and make them understand your love.

The child has to remain calm while discussing with his parents because anger will ruin everything and communication could not happen entirely. In this type of scenario, the child could keep mum and after few hours, go to the parents and try to make them understand.

If water is flowing down, then you cannot do river rafting in opposite direction. Similarly, if energies of a child are not working, say in engineering, then he would surely not get the happiness in that field even though he is paid nicely.

 

If your passion is in, painting for example, then try to convince your parents that even you just love colours, love for the canvas sheets would not be comparable to the tome books of engineering. Tell them that you will be happier with your profession as being a painter instead of an engineer. You won’t achieve the enough knowledge in the technical environment because your creativity shines through brushes and colours. Getting high paycheque as an engineer will not satisfy you internally as compared to making a masterpiece on canvas.

Don’t be scared you are not a murderer.  

A child is usually afraid of his passion being rejected at home. They are afraid that their parents will scold them. Parents will condemn his talent because they think that his liking would not help him in future professionally. Every person on this planet has a unique quality. Tell your parents plainly that you love a particular art or profession, and you are ready to do all it takes to get excellence.

Parents are our well-wishers, so composure is necessary while discussing on these sensitive topics. If they don’t agree with you, then there might be a reason for it. Throughout their life, they have seen people struggled and did not achieve what we call “Settled life”. Tell them that those people might not be stubborn enough to realize their dreams. Also, make them understand that you are very determined to be a supreme in your passion.

The parents have made their mind and accept it in reality after so much of life experiences. Tell them people who are already working professionally in the profession you love, have achieved great success. It must have taken time but eventually they keep doing what they love and succeeded. Request them to give you some time and have some patience.

Sometimes a parent is not even ready to listen to his child and just give personal decisions without discussing with his kid. In this worst case scenario, a child must ask for the guarantee of the success that can be achieved by following his parent's decisions. What is the guarantee that a particular sector is superior to other. Nobody can ensure the success in a given area unless the person is determined in the same. Success comes from day to day practice, and practice comes from commitment and determination. An individual may be determined only in the things he found interesting. If he tries to struggle in other fields, then it will affect his overall being. If a lion tries to explore the depth of the sea than the king will die one day and if one will be successful after following his parents' suggestions than what is the guarantee of happiness. His nature is to rule the jungle and hunt.

Every parent wants his child to be successful but success comes from joy and satisfaction
. How can anyone be satisfied and happy if is not able to work for what he loved?

However, this step is suggested only when parents just don’t ready to even listen to their child because hey, extorting independence is the cruellest thing.
